This is a pretty medium sized Hertwig China Head doll will very nice coloring-- no rubs at all on her-- although she does have very delicate painting on her, not as bright as some doll's you might see. The artist here had a very light tough, but all the marks of a very good doll are here: the apricots lid line above the eye, the blue color of the eye, the heart shaped lips. She was mounted on a horse hair stuffed body with wooden hand-carved hands which were painted pink. With pink thread, of course. As stated previously, she has no rubs, but she does have a small firing mark, or peppering, to the left of her lose lip line. I always like to think of these as beauty marks. Some collectors do not like them at all, but there are some people who specifically search out dolls with these marks on them--the more the better! Ah me, there is an interest for all! Our doll wears white stockings and pantalettes and since she has feet, which many early doll's did, indeed, have since China feet were an added expense and were likely to get broken, we have added little black patent leather shoes. However, back when this doll was actually played with, she probably went shoeless with just woolen stockings or mom- made booties for shoes. Her dress is a very pale peach confection with an attached white pinafore, decorated with coral colored flowers sprinkled here and there to a stunning effect.
She makes for a very pretty addition to anyone's doll collection!
